Nather Ansari, MD

Internal Medicine Physician & Aesthetic Specialist

With 30 years of medical experience, Nather Ansari, MD, has practiced medicine in every form, from ambulatory to non-ambulatory, inpatient and output, and through war and peace.

Dr. Ansari, one of 13 children, was born in Baghdad, Iraq. As his mother always predicted, he became a physician on the eve of the eight year long Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s. His first days as a practicing physician were spent serving his country, healing wounded soldiers on the battlefields.

Not too soon after, he again served during Desert Storm in the 90s, this time studying for the USMLE under rockets flying above him. Dr. Ansari was the first in his family to make the decision to leave Iraq for a safer and freer life. He, his wife, and daughter of two years escaped from Iraq in the early 90s to an unknown world in front of them, without a passport, visa or clue of where they might end up.

Their paths brought them to the safe arms of Sweden, but Dr. Ansari continued to chase the American dream. Although the wars were over, he began a new uphill battle—the one against joining American medical boards and enrolling in a residency in the United States as an International Medical Graduate without proficient English knowledge.

Eventually, Dr. Ansari finally entered residency, 10 years after having graduated from medical school in Iraq. There, he excelled, becoming chief resident of his class and elected valedictorian and excellent resident by staff and colleagues. He then moved his family to King George, Virginia were he enjoyed practicing medicine in the way he always envisioned it: as a community physician.

Dr. Ansari enjoys connecting with his patients every day, whether in an urgent or primary care setting. Thirty years after graduating from medical school, Dr. Ansari has finally been able to find peace and freedom, for his practice as a physician, and for his family. When he is not practicing medicine, Dr. Ansari enjoys spending time with his lovely wife, who manages his family’s lives as well as all the clinics; talking technology with his son who is studying data management at George Mason University; catching up with his youngest daughter, a sophomore in the Commonwealth Governor’s School at Riverbend High School; and reliving his residency days with his eldest daughter, a head and neck surgery resident in California.

Dr. Ansari took the first step that uprooted his family from a comfortable life they had in Iraq. Not only has his family benefited and appreciated the American dream they live every day, but Dr. Ansari could also not have asked for better patients or a better community to serve than the one in Fredericksburg.

At Primary & Urgent Care, Dr. Ansari takes a holistic approach to health care to keep his patients from needing costly hospital visits. He offers regular physical and wellness exams, cutting-edge aesthetic treatments like body contouring and laser hair removal, and personalized weight-loss plans.
